Dr. Banik grew up right here in Charleston. After graduating from the College of Charleston, he received his doctorate in dental medicine from the Medical University of SC, and went on to complete an advanced dental residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. After spending a year in Savannah practicing and teaching, he returned to Charleston in 1999 to continue practicing dentistry in his hometown. He continues to attend numerous advanced dental courses each year and is a member of several dental and community organizations. Dr. Banik is a graduate of the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle, Washington, one of the premier dental learning institutions in the world, and has earned Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) for his continuing pursuit of dental education and excellence. Dr. Banik also has been an attending dentist at Welvista-Smiles For A Lifetime’s rural pediatric dental clinics since 2001, providing dental care to underserved children in Allendale and Fairfax, SC. Additionally, he is a clinical instructor at the Medical University of SC College of Dental Medicine.
Personally, Dr. Banik spends time with his son and wife Sumita, who is a pediatrician at Sweetgrass Pediatrics, as well as extended family and friends. He is an avid tennis player and plays in competitive tennis leagues, enjoys outdoor activities, and holds a black belt in karate.
