DR. RON BANIK

Dr. Banik grew up right here in Charleston. After graduating from the College of Charleston, he received his doctorate in dental medicine from the Medical University of SC, and went on to complete an advanced dental residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. After spending a year in Savannah practicing and teaching, he returned to Charleston in 1999 to continue practicing dentistry in his hometown. He continues to attend numerous advanced dental courses each year and is a member of several dental and community organizations.

Dr. Banik:

is a graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle, Washington, one of the premier dental learning institutions in the world.
was inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Dentists being recognized for excellence, ethics, professionalism and leadership in oral healthcare.
has earned Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry for his continued pursuit of dental education and excellence.
has been an attending dentist at Welvista- Smiles For A Lifetime rural pediatric dental clinics for over 20 years, providing much needed dental care to underserved children in Allendale, SC.
mentors young dentists as a clinical instructor at the Medical University of SC- James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine.

Personally, Dr. Banik spends time with his son and wife Sumita, who is a pediatrician at Sweetgrass Pediatrics, as well as extended family and friends. He is an avid tennis player and plays in competitive tennis leagues, enjoys outdoor activities, and holds a black belt in karate.

The Kois Center offers a rigorous nine-part curriculum, covering treatment planning, biomechanics, restorative dentistry, periodontics, and more. This isn’t just an advanced seminar — it’s a transformative, research-driven journey that deepens both diagnostic insight and clinical precision. Kois-trained dentists are taught to assess and manage four key categories of dental risk — biomechanical, periodontal, functional (bite/jaw), and aesthetic — helping to create treatment plans that minimize future issues and improve long-term outcomes. My family and I started going to Dr.Banik for almost 29 years. They will make sure you get an appointment as soon aspossible. You’re also in good hands when you’re there.Oh yeah by the way for the last fifteen years, I’ve suffered with back problem, I’m anemic, I suffer with low blood and I’m always cold. When I come in for my appointment they always have a pillow and a blanket already for me in the room.Now how good is that to make me feel special.

Instead of feeling like a dentist visit, it felt like I went to a magic show because what he did to my tooth that I have been looking at for a couple years, and it didn’t look pretty, looks amazing! Always a pleasant experience. Dr Banik is fantastic as well as the entire staff [very professional and courteous) I had many dentists in my life and have very sensitive nerve endings.
