Your First Office Visit

Dr. Ron Banik and his team always look forward to meeting new patients! In addition to gathering your medical history, we will perform our comprehensive new patient exam. We use state-of-the-art technologies including ultra-low radiation digital x-rays and thorough clinical techniques where you can expect the following:

• Biomechanical Exam: looking for tooth decay, broken teeth, defective fillings, evaluating risk for future problems, etc.
• Periodontal Exam: Measuring gum health, evaluating risks for gingivitis and periodontal (gum AND bone) disease. NOTE: If gum health is normal, a professional cleaning MAY be able to be performed at this visit
• Oral Cancer Exam: Evaluating any abnormalities and risks
• Bite and TMJ Exam: looking for pain or damage to teeth due to an incorrect bite and/or possible jaw problems
• Dentofacial Exam: Evaluation of tooth alignment and position in relation to the face, lips, etc

For children 16 and under, a professional cleaning will also be done based on dental conditions As stated above adults may also be able to have their professional cleaning done at the initial visit IF gum health is normal. Prevention is the key. Don’t wait until it hurts! Dr. Banik and his team of professionals look forward to working with you to customize a treatment plan based on your needs and desired outcomes.

Checkups/Appointments

Checkup appointments are a vitally important part of your dental health. At Carolina Family Dentistry, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with us as recommended at least every six months as save time, money, and pain and detect early dental problems you might not see or feel.

During your regular checkup, Dr. Banik and his team will perform an update exam to check the overall health of your mouth. We will thoroughly perform a tooth exam and evaluate the condition of any old fillings or restorations that can become damaged from regular chewing and clenching of the jaw, periodontal(gum) exam, oral cancer exam, and a thorough professional cleaning and polishing. As always, we can address any questions or concerns you may have as well.

• Regular checkups are by appointment only. We ask that if you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance, if possible.
• Emergency? We will do our best to accommodate all emergencies the same day if possible. Our regular patients receive priority for emergency appointments.
